Working with the Frind Vineyard/Winery Management Team, the Vineyard/Winery IT – Technician is responsible for ensuring that all Vineyard IT and Winery IT duties are completed in timely and optimal manner as agreed upon. IT programs assesed and equipment identified, installed implemented. The Vineyard/Winery IT-Foreman will ensure all systems are fully operational and providing accurate data and reliable results.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Responsible for all day-to-day Vineyard Winery IT duties. Ensure previously installed systems, such as irrigation, are fully functional and are ready to be integrated into existing automated systems
· Confirm accuracy of designed field boundaries and planting rows
· Ensure GPS planting accuracy to within an inch and consistent plant spacing plan
· Create survey design, review software and create appropriate field layout for posts
· Oversee field +/- 1 inch accuracy on all programable machinery
· Work seamlessly with the Frind Estate Winery team to improve efficiencies
· Prep, coordinate, the delivery and install of all necessary materials on the equipment and vehicles in a timely manner
· Confirm all installation work meets, or exceeds, manufactures standards
· Ensure all final boundaries and planting rows are updated and the correct dxf files provided to the tractors
· Scheduling work plans and submit completion information on time
· Ability to plan several steps ahead, prioritize daily tasks and supervise multiple projects at one time
· Report any potential problems with employees, equipment or other resources to appropriate person (i.e. Vineyard Manager/Winemaker)
· Monitor Vineyard and Winery IT deficiencies, reporting potential problems to Vineyard/Winery Management team
· Assess and estimate resources needed to complete automation tasks, conduct and report on ongoing research projects
· Continuously look for ways to improve all processes by suggesting cost savings, time savings, quality enhancements or safety improvements
Establish and achieve Operational and Financial goals
· Work with Management team to control expenses and costs
· Working closely with the Winemaker and Vineyard Manager to ensure a smooth and efficient operation
· Manage IT side of GPS driven fertilizer, chemical and equipment orders and supplies – order and maintain supply parts
Skills required:
· At least 5 years of experience (in a supervisory role)
· A degree or diploma in related fields
· Knowledge of experience with identifying and fixing IT problems
· Able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme temperatures
· Available to work varying hours, depending on seasonal requirements
· Physically fit
· Valid driver’s license
· Excellent communication skills
