We are looking for a high potential leader to contribute to our award-winning winemaking efforts.  As a Winemaker, you will execute our winemaking plans and provide leadership in our cellars. Reporting to the Chief Winemaker, our Winemaker will execute all aspects of winemaking from grape intake to fermentation and maceration, blending and bottling. You will lead a team with a strong focus towards continuous improvement in quality, process, equipment, and maintenance.

Day in the Life of our Winemaker:

·       Direct cellar activities including grape processing, fermentation management, additions, racking, blending, finishing and bottling to Mission Hill’s high-quality standards.  

·       Oversee specific winemaking functions through harvest and crush, from receiving grapes to bottling wines.   

·       Participate in all sensory analysis and blending sessions.  Ability to identify potential faults in wines.

·       Coordinate, monitor and interpret laboratory analysis.  

·       Contribute to the development of quality and style winemaking goals.

·       Develop, implement and improve cellar best practices.

·       Learn and implement new winemaking innovation and technology.

·       Assist in executing the winery’s organic and HACCP program.

·       Promote a high level of cleanliness and sanitation

·       Represent the winery and the company at promotional activities where required.

·       Champion a safe and healthy work environment for employees.

·       Assist in coaching, educating, and motivating winery and cellar staff.

What We’re Looking For:

·       Minimum 5 years’ experience in winemaking, international experience is an asset.

·       Bachelor’s Degree (B.S) in Enology or Science from an accredited university. 

·       2 years’ experience with Laboratory Analysis.  

·       2 Years’ experience leading and developing a cellar team.  

·       The ability to work independently and in a team environment.

·       Experienced with MS Office and the ability to learn and use our wine inventory system (Vintrace). 

·       Passion for making high quality, organically certified wines.

·       Drive for continuous improvement and innovative ideas.

·       A highly effective, team player.
