2025 Cellarhand

Black Widow is a boutique winery on the Naramata Bench in BC’s Okanagan Valley. Family owned and operated winery, we are in our 20^th season. Producing around 2,500 cases per year with 15 different wines from our 2 vineyards and other local sources, our wines have been highly awarded. Using 10 grape varieties, we offer aromatic white wines, rose, sparkling, and a range of reds. We are looking for a hardworking cellar hand to work directly with the winemaker starting at harvest (mid-late September) and continuing through to mid-November.

This is a great opportunity for an individual to get experience in every facet of premium winemaking. Ideal for someone who wants to work closely with the winemaker to cover all aspects from harvest to processing and fermentation. Longer seasonal opportunities are available for the ideal person.

Candidates should be flexible with their working hours and have at least some experience in a cellar or education in winery operations. Preference will be given to those with previous vintage experience and familiarity with equipment.

Most importantly we are looking for a reliable, hard-working and enthusiastic person with a learning mindset.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Vineyard Sampling
• Work on the crush pad; receiving grapes, pressing, crushing and destemming, cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining equipment
• Pressing and preparing wines for fermentation, with some lab work (training provided)
• Brix and fermentation monitoring
• Cellar tasks; punch downs, tank/barrel cleaning and sanitizing, racking, transfers, barreling down and blending
• Ability to work well as part of the team or individually

• Ability to follow detailed direction from the Winemaker
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• High regard towards Health and Safety
• Must be able to do physical labor and lift 25 KG
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be eligible to work in Canada
