Assistant Winemaker

 

Summerhill Pyramid Winery is a 35,000+ case Organic and Biodynamic winery producing sparkling, white, rose, red, located in Kelowna, BC. 

We are looking for an Assistant Winemaker to join our team starting September 1, 2025. The Assistant Winemakers is a full time, year-round position with extended hours during harvest and bottling. The Assistant Winemaker will report directly to the Winemaker.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-          Help run day to day operations

-          Paper work and reporting compliance

-          Wet chemistry lab work

-          General cellar work, (Racking, filtering, bottling, labeling, barrel work, disgorging, cleaning, crush work, more cleaning, additions, etc.)

-          Bench trials and tasting panels

-          Strategic planning, etc.

-          Plan and execute research and development

-          General equipment maintenance

 

Requirements:

-Positive attitude and ability to work in a team

- Ability to meet physical demands of position including lifting up to 50lbs, standing for long periods of time, working outside in varying weather conditions, and comfortable with heights

- Punctual and ability to get oneself to work

- Must be able to work long and flexible hours

- Post secondary education in winemaking or relevant field

- 3+ years in full time cellar position

 

Can be an asset:

- Prior supervisor experience

- Forklift experience

- Able to work nights

- Confined space training

- OSHA approved First Aid any level

- Lab experience

- Organic and Biodynamic winemaking experience
