Job Overview
Artus Bottling Ltd is seeking an experienced Cellar Hand & Quality Controller to join our production team. This hands-on role is suited to someone with a solid background in beverage production who enjoys working in a high-volume contract bottling environment producing still wine, sparkling wine, and cider.
The role combines cellar and production support with quality control responsibilities, ensuring products are packaged efficiently, safely, and to specification. Experience with sparkling products is an asset, and a willingness to learn and develop these skills is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Cellar Operations
- Support day-to-day cellar and production activities for still wine, sparkling wine, and cider
- Assist with product preparation, including blending support and pre-packaging readiness
- Carry out inoculations and culture build-ups as required
- Perform product filtering in line with quality and packaging specifications
- Assist with tank preparation, transfers, adds, cleaning, and sanitizing
- Support high-volume bottling and packaging line operations
- Work efficiently to meet production schedules and throughput targets
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and safety across production and cellar areas
Quality Control & Assurance
- Carry out routine quality and laboratory testing (pH, TA, SO₂, carbonation levels) using both wet chemistry and FOSS.
- Monitor product quality throughout production and packaging processes
- Identify quality or packaging issues and report or assist with corrective actions
- Accurately complete quality, production, and traceability records
- Follow food safety, QA, and standard good manufacturing procedures
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in wine, cider, or beverage production
- Certificate or Diploma in Wine Industry, Oenology, Brewing, or a related field
- Experience working in a production or bottling environment, ideally high-volume
- Basic understanding of quality control and laboratory testing
- Sparkling wine or carbonation experience is an asset, with a willingness to learn required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling and standing for extended periods
- Reliable team player with a practical, hands-on approach
