Job Overview
Overview
Reporting to the Head Winemaker, this position will complete detailed work orders generated by the Head Winemaker. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the winemaking team and fully immerse themselves in the unique history and terroir of Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery. This position will have the opportunity to learn under an award-winning winemaker, committed to growing and sourcing the highest quality grapes in our wines.
Role and Responsibilities
- Initiate and execute daily work orders generated by the Head Winemaker.
- Move, rack and blend wine as well as participate in fruit processing, bottling and ingredient additions.
- Conduct inventory counts with the winemaker.
- Operate cellar equipment; such as pumps, presses, crusher/destemmer, plate and frame filters, and/or cross-flow filtration.
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples as requested by Head Winemaker.
- Participates and assists Head Winemaker with preparation and execution of bottling.
- Assist Head Winemaker in fruit sampling.
- Clarify instructions and procedures to Cellar Technicians and Harvest Hands as needed and in the absence of the Head Winemaker.
- Follows all SOPs and controls as set by the Head Winemaker.
- Carry out all duties according to health and safety regulations while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Uses Microsoft 365 system including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Schedule
- Available to work daytime, evening, weekends, weekdays and holidays as required.
- Overtime as required.
Requirements
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of previous wine cellar or beverage experience.
- Formal Viticulture Education considered an asset.
- Proven ability to use all types of winemaking equipment.
- Forklift Operator Certificate.
- Valid G driver’s license or equivalent.
Preferred Skills
- Communication: This position requires basic listening, speaking, and writing skills.
- Independent: Able to follow directions effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Attention to Detail: Achieve consistent and accurate results when completing tasks.
- Adaptability: Able to accept changing conditions and new information in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical: Operate winemaking equipment, work outdoors and indoors in hot and cold climates, occasionally lift or move objects over 55LBS.
