Established in the 1970’s and expanded its operation merging with the premium Stonebridge Vineyard, Lailey Winery blends agricultural and modern wine making processes in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada.  Lailey focuses on managing premium vineyards to produce terroir-driven ultra-premium Ontario wines of exceptional quality.

We are hiring a Cellarhand. This position supports all activities in the winemaking process, including the vineyard supervision, and production.This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience in both practical and technical aspects of winemaking and sustainable vineyard operations.

Key Responsibilities:

 Cellar Duties:

 Perform wine transfers, racking, and pump-overs

Sanitize and operate equipment such as pumps, filters, presses, and hoses

Assist with crush pad operations during harvest

Barrel work: filling, racking, stirring, cleaning

General cellar maintenance and cleaning

Support bottling operations as required, including sanitization

Conduct routine lab analyses: Brix, pH, TA, SO2, alcohol, and more

Monitor fermentation progress through daily sampling and testing

Record and report lab data to winemaking team in a timely and organized manner

Help ensure winery compliance with internal quality standards and regulatory requirements

 Other Duties:

Supports retails sales team when required

Requirements

Minimum 2 years cellar experience in a winery setting

Degree or coursework in Enology, Viticulture or a related field preferred

Strong attention to detail and cleanliness

Forklift license preferred

Comfortable to work in Confined Space 

Comfortable working in both hot and cold environments

Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work on your feet for extended periods

Ability to work flexible hours, especially during harvest, including evenings and weekends

Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn

Legally allowed to work in Canada (we cannot support international work permits at this time)
