Job Title: Harvest Cellar Hand
Location: Black Bank Hill
Period: September – December
Black Bank Hill is a newly established winery situated in Beamsville, Ontario. We cultivate our grapes by hand, ensuring the same attention to detail throughout the wine production process. Our principal goal is to produce exceptional and distinctive wines from our estate vineyard that embody the unique characteristics of their terroir and vintage.
We cultivate 12 grape varieties on our 20-acre property giving you an opportunity to work with less common Vitis vinifera like Syrah, Viognier and Chenin Blanc. You will report to our winemaker Jonathan McLean who has extensive experience crafting wine in both the Okanagan and Niagara.
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated harvest Cellar Hand to join our team for the upcoming vintage. This position offers a rewarding experience and the opportunity to work one-on-one with Jonathan in a quality-focused environment. This job will expose you to all aspects of the harvest season, so we are looking for the right person who thrives with challenges.
Responsibilities:
· Vineyard: monitoring fruit for disease pressure, berry sampling and harvesting.
· Facility and equipment cleaning and setup
· Heavy machinery operation (forklift & tractor).
· Grape processing, sorting and press operation (basket).
· Pump operation: pump overs, racking, barrel filling and sanitization
· Daily fermentation monitoring and nutrient additions.
Requirements
Qualifications:
· Previous experience at a quality focused winery is beneficial but not required.
· Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions and ask for help.
· Physically capable of working long hours and lifting heavy objects.
· Positive attitude, willingness to learn and accountable.
· Reliability through strong communication.
