About Us
Nestled in the heart of the Okanagan Valley, Haywire Winery is known for producing premium organic and sustainably farmed wines that showcase the natural elegance of our region. We are a spirited and innovative team, dedicated to quality, sustainability, and collaboration. The winery is set to process 400 tons this coming fall, making a mix of sparkling, rose and red and white still wines. Concrete fermentation tanks play a significant role in our wine profile. The winery is well equipped and is a certified laboratory.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Harvest Intern, you will be fully immersed in the winemaking process, working side-by-side with our winemakers on a hands-on, fast-paced harvest journey. Tasks will include:
- Receiving and processing fruit, grape sorting, and traceability
- Equipment set-up, operation, and sanitation
- Pump-overs, punch-downs, wine and juice transfers, and racking
- Assisting with basic lab analysis (Brix, pH, TA)
- Maintaining cleanliness of the cellar and winery facility
- Participation in fermentation monitoring and data recording
- Supporting the team with general cellar operations and winery maintenance
Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements
We are seeking someone who is:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg repeatedly
- Comfortable working long days, 6 days a week during peak harvest
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn
- Detail-oriented and able to follow SOPs and safety protocols
- Previous winery or vineyard experience is a strong asset
Forklift certification or experience is an asset
Compensation
$20-$23/hour depending on experience.
