Start Date: We are looking for someone to join us mid-January to early February 2027.

Interview Period: Interviews begin in December and January.

About the Role

The Hospitality Manager leads the guest-facing heart of Vasanti Estate Winery — our tasting room, retail, events, and wine club experience. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can drive revenue, deliver exceptional hospitality, build and develop a strong team, and make every guest and club member feel like part of the family. You’ll own the day-to-day of the tasting room while also managing the wine club experience, including shipments.

Key Responsibilities

Revenue & Retail Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of revenue-driving strategies for retail, tour, and experience operations to strengthen the brand and hit financial goals.
  • Formulate and implement business strategies to meet and exceed financial targets for retail operations, including:
  • Overseeing gross margin, operating expenses, and revenue/labour costs through optimal staffing and scheduling, and managing to budget.
  • Attaining annual revenue goals across wine sales, wine club memberships, accessories, and experiential offerings — including building supportive incentive programs.
  • Managing all cash handling and financial transactions.
  • Conduct industry and consumer-trend analysis to uncover new revenue opportunities.
  • Address guest concerns promptly, maximizing satisfaction and revenue per transaction through strategic upselling.

Guest Experience

  • Deliver high-quality guest experiences by personally leading wine tastings, sharing in-depth wine knowledge, and holding the highest service standards.
  • Spearhead exceptional wine experiences across the property, including VIP hosting and continuous review of offerings to grow revenue and satisfaction.
  • Uphold the tasting room’s cleanliness and presentation as a welcoming, premium environment.

Wine Club Management

  • Own the wine club member experience end to end — recruitment, retention, engagement, and service standards.
  • Manage all aspects of wine club shipments, including planning, coordination, fulfillment, and accurate, on-time execution each release.
  • Maintain strong member relationships to minimize churn and build long-term loyalty.
  • Lead club communications, member events, and exclusive tastings.

Inventory Management & Audits

  • Own inventory management across the tasting room and retail — receiving, stock levels, product transfers, and ongoing reconciliation.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and audits, investigate and resolve variances, and report results to ownership.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock controls protect against loss and shrinkage.
  • Coordinate finished-goods allocations across tasting room, wine club, and other channels in line with ownership direction.

Team Leadership, Onboarding & Training

  • Own hiring and onboarding for the tasting room and seasonal team — recruiting, welcoming, and setting up new team members for success from day one.
  • Design and deliver training and ongoing development, including wine and product knowledge, service standards, and sales technique, so the team is confident and consistent.
  • Coach, mentor, and conduct performance evaluations; engage the HR consultant for performance management when needed.
  • Provide daily managerial leadership: opening/closing operations, overseeing staff duties, and running weekly hospitality team meetings.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, growth, and exceptional service.
  • Prepare and submit payroll inputs to the bookkeeper — timesheets, tip pool calculations, and new-hire/termination records — accurately and on schedule each pay period.
  • Oversee maintenance/replacement of retail equipment and fixtures.

Marketing & Events

  • Implement marketing strategies and organize in-store events to drive sales, build awareness, and attract new visitors.
  • Capture imagery/video for the winery’s social media, and collaborate with the Marketing Manager to grow visitor traffic.
  • Plan and facilitate off-site tasting events with ownership.

Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure operational excellence across all areas, including strict regulatory compliance and prudent financial oversight.
  • Focus across the retail store, tasting/experience areas, group functions, and events — onsite and at occasional offsite locations.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Hospitality, tasting room, or retail leadership experience, ideally in wine or a premium guest environment.
  • Proven experience hiring, onboarding, training, and developing a team.
  • Strong sales instincts and comfort owning revenue targets.
  • Experience with inventory management, counts, and audits.
  • Wine knowledge or genuine enthusiasm to learn (WSET or similar an asset).
  • Comfort creating social content on the fly.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage inventory, cash, and shipment logistics.
  • A warm, people-first leader who can develop a team and make guests and members feel cared for.

Requirements

  • Serving It Right certification.
  • FoodSafe Level 1 certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and to stand, walk, and move throughout shifts (handling cases of wine, shipments, and event setup).
  • Available across the season, including weekends and peak periods.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $60,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Full benefits: extended health and dental after the standard waiting period.
