Lab Technician - Full Time

Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery was established with our first vintage in 1988. At that time we were one of a very few estate wineries dedicated to producing premium quality wines made from 100% Ontario grown grapes. Today, Henry of Pelham is a 200K+ case producer in Ontario’s Niagara Peninsula. Henry of Pelham works with numerous grape varieties to produce a diverse portfolio of wines.

Lab Technician

Job Summary

Henry of Pelham is looking for someone to join our lab team as a full time lab technician. The ability to evaluate, problem solve, and follow direction are central components to winery production and the lab.  Ideal candidates will have familiarity with basic lab analysis, preferably in a winery environment.

Work Relationships

Reports to:         Winemaking team

Works with:       Winemaking team, Lab technicians, Cellar Technicians

Qualifications

Skills

·         Able to work in a fast-paced environment

·         Detail oriented, hardworking and enthusiastic

·         Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills

·         Ability to work independently and within a team environment

·         Good organizational skills

·         Able to lift 25kg and able to work at heights

·         Willing to work longer hours and night shift hours and during the harvest period (September to November, up to 60 hours a week, shifts may include nights and weekends)

·         Winery experience is a plus

Education

·         Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent

Essential Responsibilities

General Duties

Including but not limited to:

·         Collection of samples from tank and barrel

·         Analyzing wine and juice samples across the Oenofoss as well as some basic wet chemistry

·         Data entry using the Winemakers Database program

·         Fining trials on juices and wines as directed by winemaking team

·         Blending samples as directed from the winemaking team

·         Processing and analysis of pre-harvest and harvest grape samples

·         Malo-lactic fermentation monitoring

·         Fruit sampling from various vineyard locations

 

 

$20.00 - $23.00/hour
