Situated at the gateway to the renowned Naramata Bench, Upper Bench Estate Winery & Creamery sets our experience apart by crafting our own line of artisan cheese to compliment our award winning wines. Our 9 acre vineyard and winery features a bustling, intimate wine shop, an outdoor, 40 seat, covered, misted patio, highlighting an open concept kitchen and a Forno Bravo pizza oven. Here 19+ guests can savour authentic Neapolitan pizzas, charcuterie boards and baked cheese dishes, paired, of course, with our delicious wines. Our team welcomes guests to their seated Estate tasting where they learn about us, our philosophy and our wine and cheese. We are looking for someone with a strong sales focus, exceptional customer service & administrative skills, experienced in staff management and of course, a love of both wine & cheese.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic experienced Sales and Hospitality professional with a strong focus on wine to join our team. This role will oversee all sales and hospitality operations including, managing our wine shop, wine & cheese Club, retail program and seasonal outdoor pizza restaurant. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service, managing staff development and education, and driving DTC wine sales while ensuring all guest facing areas reflect the friendly, professional standards our customers have grown to appreciate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire the sales and hospitality team to provide exceptional customer service and drive sales of the tasting room, retail space, and patio wine bar & pizza restaurant.
  • Manage all aspects of staffing, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase membership in our Clubs and wine shop.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the wine shop, patio, retail and other hospitality areas and overall guest flow.
  • Create & host intimate events in the wine shop during the shoulder season.
  • Conduct tastings, support the team on the floor during busy service periods.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support their initiatives and contribute to the overall success of Upper Bench. 
  • Respond & manage customer concerns promptly and ensure a positive result.
  • Ensure services spaces including, washrooms, wine shop and patio are kept clean, efficient and aligned with Upper Bench’s brand standards.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a sales and hospitality leadership role, in the wine & hospitality industry.
  • Strong sales focus with a track record of setting & achieving targets and driving revenue growth. 
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to create memorable experiences for guests.
  • Experienced in staff management, including recruitment, training, performance, discipline and time management.  Strong leadership and staff development skills.
  • Educate & provide ongoing staff education on our wines, cheese, club and tasting experiences.
  • Knowledge of Wine Direct and Ollie Order.
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, budgets and Google Drive to create, print, update documents as needed.
  • Efficient at product ordering,  placement, inventory control & management
  • Passion for wine & cheese.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, some evenings.
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Have serving it right & food safe.
