Job Overview
DRC Imports is seeking a Sales Manager/ Sales Director to add and oversee our growing team and company. We seek an enthusiastic, motivated, entrepreneurial and driven individual to teams servicing territories with both on-premise & retail outlets. Covering but not limited to: Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and potential for adjacent market oversight and growth.
You will have the opportunity to work with an exceptional portfolio of wines estates and distilleries; award winning, industry leading and memorable. We offer a supportive, collaborative structure and are committed to the continued growth of our management team. This is a full-time, permanent position with a typical split of 60% field work and 40% home office. The role requires regular evening and weekend work for events, festivals and supplier visits.
This role will report directly to the President, and support all efforts as assigned.
Requirements for this position:
- Minimum 10 Years sales experience in the beverage alcohol sector.
- Proven track record and experience managing a successful sales team
- Has a track record of setting achievable yet challenging goals and reaching or surpassing set targets
- Can identify customer needs and answer objections in a consultative manner
- Strong follow up and closing skills
- Proficient understanding of “Return on Investment (ROI)”
- Proficient in developing and managing Budgets and P & L
- Self motivated and organized without prompt. Works well in both team environments and on their own
- Able to foster existing, new and ideally long standing relationships with team members, suppliers, store managers, buyers and key staff at accounts
- Clear and concise communication skills in both written and verbal format
- Comfortability with public speaking to educate both trade and consumers on our brands to support efforts of the sales team
- Able to facilitate and execute training sessions for trade partners and consumer audiences to support efforts of the sales team
- Reviewing efficiencies in team members route planning within their territories
- Maintaining and increasing product distribution by working with existing team members, accounts and overseeing execution of new business
- Oversight of team members to ensure maximizing presence in both retail and on-premise accounts
- Oversight and effort in building long-term relationships with contacts at restaurants to achieve listings and features of products by the glass, by the bottle and back bars
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong working understanding of social media platforms and how they fit into modern business strategies
- Administratively strong and accountable in reporting. Able to proficiently understand, articulate and action all reporting required for the role.
- Proficient at software programs such Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook, as well as Google (G-Suite)
- Literate in statistics and data. Proficiency in Connect Logistics or other sales data tools.
- Must be comfortable moving/lifting 50 lbs on a regular basis, as well as standing for long periods of time
- Existing, proven relationships within the industry
- Oversight on team members focused on Key Accounts, assisting for planning, presentations and account achievement
- Market and data driven input on the company product offering and decision making
- Oversight on event participation and preparation.
- Key person mentality, at the forefront of all major events the company participates in, where applicable.
- Collaboration with TMs and RMs to ensure constant support and coverage within the Territory and provide guidance and experience where applicable
- Proficient in working with Accounting & Logistics teams to ensure continuity of listings and product accessibility
- Must have full‐time access to a reliable vehicle and a valid and unimpeded Alberta Driver’s License
- Valid and unimpeded passport
- Valid ProServe
- WSET Level 2 or equivalent is minimum. Level 3 or beyond is preferred, but not required.
Assets for this position:
- Post secondary education and equivalent work experience
- Second language is preferred, but not required.
- ProServe Certification
- Experience managing a successful, target oriented and skilled sale team
- Experience building company budgets and reporting
- Experience working closely with Accounting & Logistics
- Interested in learning new concepts and putting them into practice to grow personally and professionally
- Comfortable adapting to changing market conditions
- Experience in regular communication and collaboration with senior leadership/ ownership
- Understanding they are a direct extension representing senior leadership / ownership, and always conducts themselves accordingly
- Strategic vision and implementation track record

Therefore, our remuneration package is salary-based with access to performance bonus. The salary range for this position will commensurate with experience.
