Sales Representative – Central Ontario Cottage Country

Status: Full-Time, Permanent
Reports To: Sales Manager
Salary: $40,000–$50,000 annually (separate commission structure applies)

Position Overview

Pelee Island Winery is seeking an experienced, results-driven, and relationship-focused Sales Representative to manage and grow sales across the Central Ontario Cottage Country territory. This is a high-priority region with significant growth potential across LCBO stores, grocery retailers, restaurants, resorts, and licensed establishments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening brand presence, and building long-term partnerships within the territory. This role requires a proactive sales approach, strong market knowledge, and the ability to represent the Pelee Island Winery brand with professionalism and confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and grow sales accounts including LCBO stores, licensed restaurants, hotels, resorts, and grocery chains.
  • Conduct regular territory sales calls to maintain relationships and identify new business opportunities.
  • Execute product tastings, staff education sessions, and promotional initiatives to support retail and licensee success.
  • Monitor retail inventory levels and ensure appropriate stock rotation, merchandising standards, and in-store visibility.
  • Identify and secure new listings and placements within LCBO, grocery, and on-premise accounts.
  • Meet or exceed established sales targets through strategic planning and consistent territory management.
  • Represent Pelee Island Winery at industry events, trade shows, tastings, and consumer-facing promotional activities.
  • Track and report on territory performance, market trends, competitor activity, and account development.
  • Participate in and support licensee-hosted events and activations, including assisting with product setup, promotional execution, staff engagement, and brand representation as required.
  • Maintain accurate sales records, call reports, and CRM updates in a timely manner.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience, within wine, beverage alcohol, hospitality, or consumer packaged goods.
  • Strong understanding of the Central Ontario Cottage Country market and retail landscape.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain strong client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently within a remote territory structure.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Smart Serve certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • WSET certification (Level 1, 2, or higher) is considered a strong asset.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Operational & Travel Requirements

  • Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support tastings, licensee events, and promotional activations.
  • Ability to lift up to 20kg (cases of wine) and assist with event setup and merchandising displays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during tastings and events.

Requirements

  • Must be based in or near Bracebridge, ON, with regular travel throughout Central Ontario Cottage Country.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time within the assigned territory.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for tastings, events, and client activations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 kg (cases of wine) and assist with event setup and merchandising.

  • Smart Serve certification required (must be valid prior to start date).
