Job Description
Syrah Investments Ltd. is looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to work as Vineyard Irrigation Worker at our vineyard in Cawston, British Columbia.
The Vineyard Irrigation Worker will be responsible for operating, monitoring, maintaining, and assisting with the repair of the vineyard irrigation system. The worker will also assist the vineyard labour crew with regular vineyard and agricultural tasks throughout the growing and harvesting seasons.
Job Duties
The successful applicant will be required to:
- Operate and monitor vineyard irrigation systems, pumps, valves, filters, and irrigation lines.
- Inspect irrigation lines, pumps, valves, and related equipment for leaks, blockages, damage, and other problems.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of irrigation equipment.
- Assist with the installation, removal, repair, and maintenance of irrigation lines and equipment.
- Monitor water flow and pressure and ensure adequate irrigation of vineyard blocks.
- Adjust irrigation equipment and systems as directed by the supervisor.
- Identify and report irrigation problems and equipment failures.
- Assist with general vineyard maintenance and labour activities.
- Assist the vineyard labour crew with pruning, tying, training, shoot thinning, leaf removal, weed control, vineyard sanitation, harvesting, and other seasonal vineyard tasks.
- Carry out manual agricultural work, including lifting, bending, standing, walking, and working outdoors for extended periods.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
- Perform other general vineyard duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Employment Requirements
- No formal education is required.
- Previous vineyard, agricultural, farm, or irrigation experience is an asset but is not required.
- On-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive work.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and a willingness to perform a variety of agricultural tasks are required.
- No specific certification is required for the position.

Terms of Employment
- Position: Vineyard Irrigation Worker
- Employment: Full-time, seasonal agricultural employment
- Wage: $20.00–$25.00 per hour
- Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, with the actual schedule and hours varying according to weather, irrigation requirements, crop conditions, and seasonal vineyard operations.
- Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable British Columbia employment standards.
- Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve early mornings, weekends, and varying hours depending on agricultural requirements.
- The position is seasonal and employment will end at the conclusion of the agricultural season or as specified in the employment agreement.
- Benefits, vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, and other employment conditions will be provided in accordance with applicable legislation and the employment agreement.
