Job Overview

Cave Spring Vineyard is a 165-acre vineyard operation with vineyards in the Beamsville Bench and Lincoln Lakeshore sub-appellations in Beamsville, ON. We grow premium vitis vinifera grapes for winemaking at our cellars in Jordan, ON.

We are seeking a dedicated vineyard professional to join our team. Depending on experience, this position may be filled at either the Vineyard Supervisor or Assistant Vineyard Manager level. The ideal candidate will support day to day vineyard operations, ensure high quality viticultural practices, and help lead our crew through seasonal tasks. For a candidate hired at the Vineyard Supervisor level, there is opportunity and support for developing to the Assistant Vineyard Manager level.

Core Responsibilities – Vineyard Supervisor and Assistant Vineyard Manager

  • Coordinate and assist with daily vineyard tasks across 165 acres, including pruning, thinning, canopy management, trellis maintenance, harvest, and post-season activities
  • Lead and support vineyard crews, including seasonal and temporary workers
  • Supervise and operate tractors, sprayers, and all vineyard equipment
  • Monitor vine health, soil conditions, and pest/disease pressure
  • Maintain accurate records of field work, equipment maintenance, and spray applications
  • Uphold high standards of quality, safety, and sustainability in vineyard operations
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish or willingness to learn

Additional Responsibilities – Assistant Vineyard Manager

Candidates qualifying at the Assistant Vineyard Manager level will take on expanded leadership responsibilities, including:

  • Assisting the Vineyard Manager and Viticulturist with planning and managing all seasonal vineyard programs
  • Leading vineyard operations and projects with minimal supervision
  • Supporting training and mentoring of seasonal workers
  • Participating in spray program decisions
  • Coordinating with winemaking teams on harvest timing and fruit quality goals
  • Assisting with budgeting, labour planning, inventory control, and vineyard enhancements
  • Providing input on and records of vine health, yield targets, and block-specific decisions

Requirements

Qualifications – Vineyard Supervisor

·         Vineyard Supervisor: Typically suited for candidates with foundations in leadership and vineyard experience

  • 2–4 years of vineyard or agricultural experience
  • Strong understanding of fundamental viticulture practices
  • Ability to supervise crews and communicate instructions clearly
  • Competency with vineyard equipment operation (tractors, sprayers, harvesters, etc.)
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working long hours seasonally
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, rain, cold, snow, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s licence; DZ driving experience is an asset

Qualifications – Assistant Vineyard Manager

·         Assistant Vineyard Manager: Suited for candidates with advanced viticulture knowledge and demonstrated leadership of crews and projects

  • 4–7+ years of vineyard experience, including tractor operations
  • Proven leadership of teams and complex vineyard projects
  • Strong understanding of pest/disease management
  • Experience with spray programs and proficiency with sprayer operation and maintenance
  • Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with office productivity software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s licence; DZ driving experience is an asset
