Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled and passionate Winemaker to join our production team. Reporting to the Head of Production, the Winemaker will help plan and execute production schedules, coordinate winery operations, monitor inventory, and support continuous improvements throughout the production process. The successful candidate will also be responsible for reporting on wine progress, maintaining accurate production records, and communicating updates to the Head of Production.
The Winemaker will be responsible for overseeing daily winemaking operations, supporting harvest planning, monitoring fermentation, managing blends, and ensuring the quality and consistency of all wines produced. This role includes working closely with the cellar, lab, vineyard partners, and winery team to guide wines from grape to bottle. The ideal candidate is organized, hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
Requirements
- Previous commercial winemaking experience required
- Education in winemaking, enology, and viticulture required
- Strong knowledge of fermentation, blending, stabilization, filtration, and bottling
- Experience working with cool-climate grape varieties is an asset
- Ability to taste, evaluate, and make quality decisions on wine
- Strong organizational, reporting, and record-keeping skills
- Experience planning production schedules and coordinating winery operations
- Ability to manage multiple wines, brands, or projects simultaneously
- Comfortable working extended hours during harvest
- Ability to lift and move production materials and work safely around winery equipment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Forklift certification is an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
