Job Overview

This is a new permanent role for Andrew Peller Limited and we will consider candidates based in Ontario or British Columbia. A flexible hybrid work set up between home and office is ideal.

The Winemaking Systems Lead, under the direction of VP Eastern Operations, is responsible for all winemaking system oversight and analysis to support optimized wine blend management.  In addition, this role will provide project management and administrative support to process improvement initiatives for National Winemaking, Vineyard and Spirits teams.    

What the teammate is responsible for -

  • Act as Functional Lead for the wine inventory management system, Wine Connection.  
    • Product Release oversight – coordinate release testing, schedule and lead functional reviews, execute testing and validation to support APL business requirements
    • Development Roadmap lead – engage with system provider to illustrate enhancement priorities, manage APL design input and SME feedback for custom and product roadmap. 
    • Act as winemaking, viticulture and harvest SME.
    • Harvest Operations execution – execute annual data uploads, update and audit contract and grape price configurations
    • Benefits realization – manage APL resource allocation and trials to support new features
  • Act as Winemaking SME for APL Oracle Cloud system through team training, testing support for releases and working with Masterdata for new item setup for wine and spirit components.
    • Distribute weekly wine blend demand report
    • Coordinate regular reviews and update BOM for IDB, VQA and Spirit blends
  • Support new user set up and systems onboarding for winemaking, vineyard operations and spirits teams Nationally.
  • Maintain and manage all WM training materials related to winery systems.  Includes regular updates to current training documents and hosting training sessions with users Nationally.  
  • Lead monthly production analysis of bill of material (BOM) compliance and optimization to support various initiatives including regulatory compliance, inventory management and cost optimization.
  • Act as Project Manager for internal process improvement projects through stakeholder interviews, goal setting, documentation and SOP generation/audits.
  • Collect data and generate reports, including but not limited to Month End reporting, regulatory compliance reports 
  • Assist in compiling seasonal and monthly metrics, KPIs.
  • Assist in special projects as determined by the VP of Operations.

Who the teammate will work with -

  • Reports to: VP Operations - Eastern Canada
  • Direct Reports: None
  • Regular interaction, coordination and negotiation with external service providers.
  • Monthly interaction with Supply, Finance and Winemaking teams to prepare and present audit and performance data.
  • Regular interaction, coordination and support for Manager and Director- level stakeholders and customers.

Requirements

What the teammate will bring to the role -

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in systems management or technical consulting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. 
  • Proven track record of successful negotiation and leadership skills.    
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in a winery or similar manufacturing environment
  • Winemaking process knowledge an asset.
  • Project management experience as asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Access)
  • Experience in Oracle Cloud, WICO, Vintrace or other winery software an asset.

Compensation

This role will be a full time salaried role and will be compensated with a competitive total pay package based on experience.
