Job Overview
The Winery Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all non-winemaking operations at the winery, ensuring smooth, efficient, and customer-focused day-to-day management. This includes oversight of hospitality, tasting room, events, inventory/logistics, compliance, facilities, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with strong organizational skills, hospitality experience, and a passion for operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
- Oversee daily winery operations excluding wine production.
- Manage tasting room and seasonal restaurant activities, staffing, and
- customer service standards.
- Coordinate logistics including inventory management, fulfillment, and
- shipping.
- Maintain compliance with alcohol regulations.
- Oversee maintenance and appearance of winery facilities and grounds.
- Provide hands on support to wineshop and restaurant during busy times, as needed.
- Work the wineshop during office hours in the off season, supplemented with staffing as warranted by customer traffic.
Hospitality & Events
- Lead the hospitality team to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Plan and execute on-site events.
- Manage the production of print resources, including menus and signage.
- Attend promotional offsite events (potentially on weekends and evenings).
- Recommend sales strategies and promotions.
- Manage relationships with tour companies and local accommodation providers.
Staff Management
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise operations staff, including tasting room, seasonal restaurant, logistics, and admin personnel.
- Maintain compliance with worker safety regulations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and staff development initiatives.
- Foster a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment.
- Financial & Administrative Oversight
- Assist in budgeting and forecasting for operational departments.
- Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-effective strategies.
- Provide bookkeeping assistance, including payroll and collections.
- Maintain accurate records related to inventory, sales, staffing, and compliance.
- Work collaboratively with the winemaking and executive teams to align goals and share resources.
Financial & Administrative Oversight

Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in winery, hospitality, or operations management.
- Aptitude for leadership.
- Keen team player.
- Wine knowledge.
- A passion for excellent customer service.
- Ability to organize and coordinate.
- Tech savvy (point-of-sale, reservations, wine club, website, newsletter).
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to work weekends and occasional evenings as needed.
